This serviced Rare Vintage 1969 Citizen Chrono Master Ref. HODS 2901-Y represents the pinnacle of Citizen’s golden era of watchmaking. Produced in 1969, the Chrono Master was Citizen’s high-precision answer to the Grand Seiko, engineered to meet the strictest chronometer-grade standards of the time.
The beautifully preserved silver sunburst dial features bold, multi-faceted applied indices and sharp dauphine hands, offering a commanding yet sophisticated aesthetic. This particular example is the highly coveted "Heavy Duty Standard" (HODS) model, characterized by its robust steel case and aggressive, sharp lug geometry that defines vintage Japanese high-end design.
At its heart is the legendary Hand-Winding Caliber 1870 (25 Jewels). This movement was Citizen's premier manual-wind caliber, designed for superior chronometric stability and finishing. Recently serviced, the movement ensures crisp winding, a smooth sweep, and reliable performance suitable for daily wear.
The stainless steel case retains its strong, original lines and sharp facets. The centerpiece of this timepiece is the 18K Gold Eagle Medallion on the caseback, which remains in remarkably crisp, unpolished condition—a rare find as these are often worn down. While the watch head, dial, and movement are 100% original and factory-correct, it has been paired with a high-quality leather strap that complements its classic proportions. Correctly stamped HODS 2901-Y on the caseback, this 1969 piece is a verified survivor of Citizen’s pursuit of horological perfection.
Increasingly difficult to find with a pristine medallion and serviced movement, this Chrono Master Eagle remains a cornerstone for any serious collector of high-end Japanese vintage watches.
